Thank you to the more than 50 TVVA members who wrote to the Arizona State Liquor Board regarding Circle K’s liquor application. Your voices demonstrating the strength of our community engagement and commitment to the Tanque Verde Valley are sincerely appreciated by the Board of Directors and Executive Staff.
On December 4, the Arizona State Board of Liquor Licensing approved a Series 10 (beer and wine) license for the Circle K planned at 10290 E. Tanque Verde Road.
While this decision is disappointing, TVVA remains committed to advocating for responsible planning and protecting the natural character, wildlife, and open spaces that make the Tanque Verde Valley special. Together, we remain advocates for Preserving What’s Precious.
Current Events
As we stroll, jog, or drive past the Tanque Verde and Houghton Road intersection, many of us have noticed the commencement of construction on the new Circle K convenience store. In response to community concerns and ongoing advocacy efforts, TVVA has remained engaged in monitoring site activity and communicating priorities important to our valley.
New construction activity at the Circle K site includes the installation of a perimeter fence. Existing shrubs and trees along the property perimeter, particularly on the north side, will be retained. According to the Project Supervisor, this level of landscape preservation is unusual for Circle K projects he has overseen.
TVVA specifically requested that Circle K respect local wildlife corridors and preserve the area’s dark skies in order to minimize impacts to the native animal population. We value both our flora and fauna and seek to preserve the rural character of the Tanque Verde Valley.
