The Pima County Redistricting Advisory Committee will meet next on Wednesday April 6 from 3pm to 6pm. The meeting will be held in person in the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 130 West Congress, 1st floor. Please note that seating will be limited to accommodate physical distancing and masks are recommended. Under Arizona law, the Pima County Board of Supervisors is required to undergo redistricting every 10 years following the release of decennial census population estimates and adopt new district lines for the purpose of balancing the population of each district to within 10 percent. The deadline is July 1, 2022. Our district, District 4, had the greatest population growth, and is almost 16 percent higher than the lowest population district. As a result, the boundary lines will need to be revised to balance the population to no more than a 10 percent difference. For more information and district maps, go to www.pima.gov/countyredistricting.
The Board of Supervisors each appointed one representative to a Redistricting Advisory Committee. The Committee is tasked with developing a recommended map or maps by the end of April, and to hold at least 5 committee meetings with a public hearing at each meeting. The agenda and other meeting materials will be available closer to the meeting date at www.pima.gov/countyredistricting. Please note that just like Board of Supervisor meetings, the public will be able to watch the meeting via Cox or Comcast channel 96 or the County’s youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/PimaCountyArizona. Any member of the public that would like to speak can do so by contacting the County at least 24 hours prior to the meeting so they can provide remote login access to the meeting. Comments can also be submitted at www.pima.gov/countyredistricting.
